Uni’s back as off Monday, but I’ve only had three classes so far. So far, so good. My subjects acually interest me (well, apart from Media Law, but it’s one of those useful subjects I feel like I should do). I’ve made a big change this semester in that I decided to drop half my degree. I’m in my third year and have been doing a double degree in commerce and media & communications, but really hating the commerce. After four months of thinking about it and my future, I decided to transfer into the straight media & communications degree. This way, I’ll be done earlier and I’ll hopefully do postgrad later on.
Knittingwise, I’ve been concentrating on Serrano and I’ve made some good progress – finishing the body and one sleeve. I blocked the body and was able to get the measurements no problem. I even blocked it slightly bigger than it was supposed to since I’m in between sizes (36-inch bust) and didn’t want to go for the bigger size since I wanted a fitted cardigan, but also didn’t want it to be too tight (I don’t have much experience knitting with negative ease). It looks like it’s going to fit though and I’m excited. It’s slightly longer than the original too, which I think is mainly due to the fact that I was unsure how to measure accurately – should I stretch out the lace to measure it or not? Since I hate things that are too short, that’s all good, but I’m hoping the armholes won’t end up too big. I’ll cast on for the second sleeve tonight and will hopefully have it mostly finished by next week.
I have another obsession at the moment, which is this beautiful cashmere from Live 2 Knit . It’s 100% fingering weight cashmere, undyed, and I can’t stop fondling it. I bought it on a bit of a whim when Katie was having her cashmere sale. I didn’t have a project in mind (which is unusual for me), but couldn’t resist the thought of knitting with pure cashmere. One skein has a very generous yardage – 375 m in 55g – and I’m planning to knit myself a small shawl with it. It’s my next project and I can’t wait.

Serrano is looking so pretty! When you mentioned Media Law it gave me an awful flashback to my college days! We had a first year professor (at that college anyway) who was intent in gaining a reputation as a hard-ass. groan. But I gave the class a chance and ended up really liking it because the discussions were so interesting. Good luck with yours!

Serrano is very pretty & the colour is gorgeous!
You’ll love the cashmere even more after it’s been washed, it softens up even more (if you can believe it) and blooms beautifully.
